Architecture for a quieter life.

Studio Halvard is a small architecture and interior practice in Vesterbro. We make calm, durable, daylight-led space — homes and places of work that are felt before they are explained.

The studio is currently taking projects for autumn 2026.

Selected work

The work is the argument.

Six recent projects across new builds, renovations and interiors. Select any to read the case study.

The studio

We believe good space is felt before it is explained.

Our approach

Studio Halvard was founded in 2014 on a simple conviction: that restraint is a kindness. We work slowly, take few projects at a time, and stay close to each one from the first conversation to the day the keys turn. Daylight, durable materials and quiet proportion do most of the work.

How we work

We draw by hand before we draw by machine. We prototype joints and finishes at full scale. We design for the building's whole life, not its opening photograph — which is why our clients tend to come back, and to send their neighbours.

Services

Three ways we work.

From a whole building to a single room, the care is the same. Most projects begin with a paid consultation.

Architecture

New buildings and substantial renovations, from feasibility and planning permission through to construction on site.

  • Single homes & multi-unit residential
  • Heritage & listed-building work
  • Planning & building-regs management

Interiors

The room as the project. Spatial planning, joinery, lighting, materials and the details that decide how a space feels.

  • Full interior architecture
  • Bespoke joinery & furniture
  • Lighting & material schemes

Consultation

A focused half-day to test an idea, read a site, or set a brief — practical advice with no obligation to go further.

  • Site & feasibility reviews
  • Pre-purchase property advice
  • Brief-setting & budgeting

Process

From first conversation to handover.

Five phases, no surprises. You always know where the project is and what comes next.

Phase 01

Conversation

We meet, walk the site, and listen. You leave with an honest read on scope, budget and fit.

Phase 02

Brief & concept

We set the brief together and draw the first ideas by hand — a clear direction before any detail.

Phase 03

Design & permits

We develop the design, resolve the construction, and steer it through planning and building regulations.

Phase 04

On site

We tender, appoint the right builders, and stay on site to protect the detail as it is made.

Phase 05

Handover

We snag, document and hand over a finished space — then check back after a season of living in it.

People

A small studio, deliberately.

Four hands on every project. You work with the people who draw it.
