Our story
A converted shopfront, two people, and a very early alarm.
We took on a tired Victorian shopfront on Church Street in 2019 — wonky floors, a tin ceiling, the old grocer's lettering still ghosting through the paint. We kept what we could, found mismatched chairs at markets across North London, and built one long table for the people who'd rather not eat alone.
Tom cooks; Edie runs the room and chose every wine. Most mornings start at the market before dawn — whatever looks best decides the day's board, which Edie chalks up on the wall before the doors open.
- The morning ritual. Pre-dawn at the local traders, back by nine, board written by ten.
- Twenty-eight seats, one seating. No table-turning, no rushing the bill.
- Unpretentious, quietly serious. Book it for an anniversary; pop in solo at the bar.
